Reading the business news these days is like reading a fairy tale. There are mysterious forces no one can see, people are wishing for a genie to pop out of a bottle and save them, and they have their fingers crossed that there will some how, some way be a happy ending.
"We don't know what is coming next" one Wall Street player said.
I say "Make what comes next your decision."Identify one strength--your brand reputation, your smart and experienced people, one product or service, your R&D team, your sales team--something that has a proven track record--and focus on making that the starting point for what comes next.
Words and visuals are very powerful. When you choose to speakabout the problems and show visuals about downward trending or plunging revenue, you give those negatives more power. How can people overcome them if they are bombarded with them day after day?
Do not gloss over the problems--that would be another fairy tale.
Do focus on one strength and show leadershipthrough a compelling vision of how that strength will help you and your company take control over your future. Challenge your audience to rise up to the occasion. Create a mindset of possibilities and optimism.
